Foster Parents
We are currently looking for caring people (individuals or couples) to fill the roles of foster parents in Rapid City! If you have a special place in your heart for children and want to help them overcome their past, then this is the position for you! Abbott House hires married couples to live as a family with up to 6 children in a home provided by Abbott House. These children have no safe place to call home and desperately need a stable and safe environment to grow in! We will provide training and support to ensure you feel prepared and confident working with children who have experienced trauma.
Foster Family Support Specialist
Located in Mitchell, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. Foster Family Support Specialists are like the aunts and uncles to our foster children. This position provides respite care when our foster parents are off duty. As a Foster Family Support Specialist, you will stay at the foster home overnight, serving as the "parent" of the foster home while the foster parents have days off. During this time, you will transport children to and from school and medical appointments, cook meals, keep the home space clean, assist children with homework, help with morning and night routines, and ensure the safety and appropriate supervision of all the children in the home.
Youth Engagement Specialist
Located in Mitchell, SD. Looking for Full-Time and Part-Time. The Youth Engagement Specialists spend their day nurturing, leading group discussions and managing young people to ensure their safety and guide them in daily interactions with other students and staff members. Youth Engagement Specialists (YES) have a four day work week with varying hours.
Cook/Housekeeper
Located in Mitchell, SD. There's nothing more important than good food and a clean home, which is exactly what the Cooks and Housekeepers at Abbott House are responsible for daily! Ensuring safety, sanitation, and nutritious meals are the most important areas of this position.
Night Youth Care Worker
Located in Mitchell, SD. We are currently searching for people who prefer working independently. This position is dedicated to supervising and keeping safe the children in our care during the overnight hours. Shifts for this position begin after all the young people have gone to bed. You will be responsible for regularly checking on sleeping children, facility cleaning, and detailed documentation. Staff in this position also help the children with their morning routines once they wake up.
Crisis Management Team Member
Located in Mitchell, SD. Looking for full-time and part-time. This position works with our youth in crisis and non-crisis situations and assists with daily facility maintenance. Most evenings, crisis management team members will be playing games with young people, having discussions, or helping them prepare for bed. This is a great positions for individuals who want to make some extra money at the end of the day! Crisis management team members work primarily in the evenings and on weekends.
On Call Nurse
Located in Mitchell, SD. If you are a nurse who likes flexibility and can work 6 or more days a month, this might be the position for you! The more shifts you pick up, the larger your monthly incentive pay is. On Call nurses complete assessments after hours, holidays, and on weekends in the event of an emergency safety intervention.
Special Education Teacher
Located in Mitchell, SD. If your heart fills with pride and a smile crosses your face as you watch a child succeed, then this job is for you! The Special Education Teacher works closely with the Special Education Director to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment for youth served by the Abbott House. The Special Education Teacher is to help manage educational programs and activities that are provided to emotionally and learning challenged students.
Food Truck Specialist
Abbott House has partnered with WellFully to create a unique food truck offering in Rapid City: WellHouse Pizza. This food truck is different from other food trucks in that its sole purpose is to provide hands-on workforce training for the at-risk youth in both organizations. It will also be the only food truck in Rapid City to offer pizza! This will be a youth-run, adult-supervised business. This program will offer youth a chance to prepare for the future by practicing much-needed life and job skills. We are looking for a part-time food truck manager to run the business and supervise the employees. If you enjoy working with kids and have a business or food background, this could be the summer opportunity you’re looking for!
Assistant Development Director
Abbott House is looking for an outgoing person to join the development team and raise awareness about our agency. The Assistant Development Director is responsible for donor recruitment and management, public relations, special events, volunteer coordination, andother tasks as assigned by the Development Director. Your goal will be to recruit and maintain supporters of our mission, as well as keep our agency connected with the community.
